But why is it advised that you see our dentist in Chelsea<\/strong> every 6 months? Why are check-ups so important anyway? Read on to find out!<\/p>\n

Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n

When our dentist in Chelsea<\/strong> performs a check-up, they are looking for far more than just cavities or plaque. They are assessing your overall health from looking at your teeth, and can then devise a treatment plan with you to help with issues such as plaque, diet, smoking, or may even suggest orthodontic procedures that you could benefit from. Check-ups also provide you with a chance to talk to our team about cosmetic treatments that you may want, such as whitening, veneers or dental implants.<\/p>\n

Prevention<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prevention of dental issues is key to good oral health.<\/p>\n

And if during your check-up you mention to our team an issue with acid reflux, a chronic health situation or medication that can hurt your enamel, we will aim to keep your teeth in the best possible condition despite this. Treatment may involve fluoride sealants, deep cleaning or, as we will talk about in a bit more depth later, a scale and polish.<\/p>\n

Maintenance<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you have fillings, crowns, root canals or even cosmetic treatments like veneers, all of these are going to require maintenance.<\/p>\n

And as you can imagine, it is best to do this as often as possible to prevent them from falling out and potentially causing abscesses to form. While it may involve some additional investigation from our team during your check-up, rest assured, we are just checking on the stability of any work you have had done in the past.<\/p>\n

Cancer screening<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the prevention of cavities and gum disease is pivotal to what we can offer at Chelsea Green, we are also extremely proud of our oral cancer screening.<\/p>\n

More important if you are a smoker or if you have a history of oral cancer in your family, we will aim to check your mouth for signs of cancer every 6 months and, as is the way with all cancers, earlier detection and treatment ensure a better long-term outcome.<\/p>\n

Should our team spot something untoward in your mouth, we will immediately refer you to a specialist for diagnosis and treatment.<\/p>\n

Hygiene<\/strong><\/p>\n

A trip to see our dental hygienist is something you should not neglect!<\/p>\n

When it comes to preventing tooth loss, hygienists regularly save more teeth than our regular dental team do, through the use of a scale and polish which prevent gum disease.<\/p>\n
